- Uttar Pradesh
Heres what CricBuzz says about him.
Speaking of how he used to go for trails, Khan once said, \"Be it Lucknow or Kanpur, I used to sleep at platforms. I used to buy a platform ticket and spend the night there ... I always had monetary problems. I never dared to ask money from my brothers. I had one pair of white clothes for trials\".
He is a short guy but he generates good pace and bowls above 140kph at times. He impressed Rajasthan Royals' director of coaching Darren Berry with his bowling and he was offered an IPL contract by the Royals for the second edition of the tournament.
He played a few games for them until 2010 before moving on to Pune Warriors in 2011. During his stint with the Royals, he impressed Shane Warne and was also given the responsibility to bowl the Super Over. He repaid his captain's faith by delivering quality goods as he helped the Royals thump Kolkata Knight Riders in the one-over eliminator.
He was also reported for suspect bowling action during the 2009 IPL as he foxed many batsman with his pace. He also had a slingy action that many could not pick.
Heres what ESPNcricinfo says about him.
Left-arm seamer Kamran Khan was picked out of obscurity when the Rajasthan Royals signed him up for the second season of the IPL after Darren Berry, the team's director of coaching, spotted him in a Twenty20 tournament in Mumbai. Kamran, the son of a woodcutter from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, had no first-class experience when he was handed a US$24,000 contract by Rajasthan. He was mainly a tennis-ball player but shot into prominence in Rajasthan's warm-up game in April 2009 when he bowled Cape Cobras' Justin Ontong with an off-stump yorker. Shane Warne, the team's captain, said Kamran can bowl over 140kph even though he has a slight frame. He has marked him out as a player to watch in the tournament to be played in South Africa.
