However, once he was roped into the Rajasthan side during the 2010/11 season, he hit three hundreds in each of the knock-out games and helped Rajasthan clinch the title. In fact, those were the first three matches he played after a long injury lay-off.
He was impressive the next season as well and ended his campaign with the second best average in the side.
His impressive run in the domestic circuit earned him an IPL contract from Rajasthan Royals in 2011, for whom he played until 2013. However, he found no bidders at the 2014 auctions and went unsold.
Heres what ESPNcricinfo says about him.
A left-hand batsman, Ashok Menaria captained the India Under-19 team which toured Australia in 2009, recording a 2-1 win in the one-dayers. He was retained captain for the U-19 World Cup in New Zealand the following year. It was a disappointing tournament for India, going down to Pakistan in the quarter-finals. After the tournament, he bagged an IPL contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore, and later with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2012.
He also led Rajasthan in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy and Vinoo Mankad Trophy in 2008-09. Menaria made his first class debut for Rajasthan the same season.
